On August 30, 2023, Sierra Alvarez, a 34-year-old woman from Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, was shot and killed in Brookfield. The incident occurred at a residence near the intersection of Pepper Lane and Apple Tree Lane. Police responded to reports of a shooting and found Alvarez with fatal injuries. Despite immediate medical assistance, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
