On January 27, 2024, Davarein Kirksey, a 29-year-old father of five from Milwaukee, was fatally shot near the intersection of 75th and Marine. The shooting occurred around 12:30 a.m., and police were called to the scene following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found Kirksey with critical injuries; he was pronounced dead shortly after emergency responders arrived.
