The devastating incident
unfolded at the family's home, where Major and his eight-year-old sister, Mya, were found deceased from fatal gunshot wounds. Their mother, 34-year-old Jessica Jessmon, has been identified by police as the suspect in the shooting deaths of her two children. Authorities report that Jessmon shot both of her children before turning the gun on herself, ending her own life at the scene.
During the horrific event, the children's father was also shot and wounded. He was transported to a local hospital for his injuries. The tragedy was preceded by a contentious and ongoing custody dispute between Jessmon and the children's father.
