In the quiet town of Elba, Wisconsin, a tragic event unfolded on February 19, 2024, ending the life of 81-year-old Susan C. Zittel, a White female. The day began with a distressing call to the Columbus Police Department at approximately 6:20 a.m. The report detailed a man with a gun outside the entrance of Prairie Ridge Health.
Upon their arrival at the hospital, law enforcement discovered that the man, identified as 85-year-old David Zittel, had entered the emergency room waiting area
and died by suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Medical staff at the hospital had attempted to provide immediate aid, but his injuries were too severe. This event at the hospital prompted a welfare check at the Zittel residence in Elba.
