On May 18, 2024, 15-year-old Alejandro Sanchez was fatally shot alongside his best friend, 15-year-old Monroe Weso, near South 14th Street and West Halsey Avenue on Milwaukee's south side. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m., when both teenagers sustained gunshot wounds; Weso was pronounced dead at the scene, while Sanchez succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
