On May 24, 2024, Marcus C. Gathings, a 36-year-old man from Milwaukee, was fatally shot near the intersection of 16th and Locust streets. The incident occurred around 3:20 p.m., prompting immediate responses from law enforcement and emergency services. Upon arrival, police found Gathings suffering from gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
