On August 15, 2024, Alijah Golden-Richmond, a 14-year-old boy from Milwaukee, was shot and killed during an incident involving an attempted car theft. The shooting occurred near 39th and Vliet Streets in the afternoon. According to reports, Golden-Richmond and a friend were attempting to break into a car when they were spotted by Zariah Johnson, a 22-year-old woman who was driving nearby.
