Anthoni Orozco, a 27-year-old Caucasian male, tragically lost his life in a senseless act of violence in Seattle, Washington. On the evening of April 5, 2023, Anthoni, known to his loved ones as AJ, accompanied a friend and two others to confront a man named Kajali Alijah Camara. The friend, Camara's ex-girlfriend, was seeking to resolve a dispute over a missing PlayStation and the alleged online posting of intimate videos.
The group arranged to meet Camara on the campus of Nathan Hale High School.
Upon their arrival, the situation quickly escalated when Camara, then 20 years old, reportedly became enraged and brandished a semiautomatic pistol. In a heroic attempt to prevent violence, Anthoni stepped between Camara and the young woman, raising his hands in a peaceful gesture. He urged Camara to put the gun down and talk things out. Despite his efforts to de-escalate the conflict, Camara fired a single shot, striking Anthoni in the abdomen before fleeing the scene. The bullet caused catastrophic damage, and Anthoni was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. He underwent hours of surgery, but his injuries were too severe. Anthoni Orozco died the following morning, on April 6, 2023. His death was officially ruled a homicide.
Following an investigation, Seattle police arrested Kajali Alijah Camara on April 7, 2023. He was located at a tiny-house encampment, and a stolen 9mm handgun was recovered at the time of his arrest. The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office initially charged Camara with second-degree murder and second-degree assault, and his bail was set at $2 million. In a later plea agreement, the murder charge was reduced. In June of 2025, Camara pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and received a sentence of nine years in prison for the death of Anthoni Orozco.
