On a late summer afternoon in Everett, Washington, the life of Bryan R. Jenks, a 54-year-old Caucasian male, came to a tragic and violent end. On August 22, 2023, police responded to reports of gunfire in the 2300 block of Virginia Avenue, a residential street in the Riverside neighborhood. What they discovered was a grim scene that left two men dead and a community in shock.
Upon their arrival at approximately 4:30 p.m., officers found the body of 40-year-old Peter Fickey in an alley
between Baker and Virginia avenues, suffering from gunshot wounds. As they continued to investigate, they entered a nearby home to conduct a welfare check and found Bryan Jenks, also deceased from gunshot wounds. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed that both deaths were homicides.
Jenks and Fickey were described by authorities as friends and neighbors who lived across the alley from one another. The preliminary investigation suggests that the two men were involved in an altercation inside a home when a gun was fired, resulting in both of their deaths. While the specific details of what led to the fatal confrontation remain unclear, law enforcement officials have stated that they do not believe there are any outstanding suspects. This has led to the belief that the incident was contained to the two men involved, with no threat to the wider community.
