A couple residing in a nearby apartment complex heard four shots and saw approximately six individuals running and shooting.
Upon their arrival at the park, Everett police officers discovered Sanchez in a covered area with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Cesar was described by his mother, Clementina Rubio Ruiz, as a loving son who was focused on helping his family. He had recently started a new job with a higher wage to better support them. To accommodate a full-time work schedule, he had made plans to earn his high school diploma through an online program. He also had aspirations of attending the Sno-Isle Tech Skills Center to train as an electrician. His death has deeply affected his family and raised concerns about the increasing violence in the neighborhood surrounding the park, where residents have reported frequent fights and other instances of gunfire.
