In the early morning hours of November 22, 2023, a fatal encounter unfolded in the 2000 block of 26th Street in Everett, Washington, leaving 37-year-old Robert Hamilton dead. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed that Hamilton, a male, died from a gunshot wound and ruled his death a homicide. Events began around 3 a.m. when a woman at a residence on the street witnessed a physical altercation between Hamilton and another man, Randy Teall, who was 51 years old.
The fight between the two men, who reportedly knew each other, escalated near the front porch of the house where the woman was staying. According to a police report, Hamilton pushed Teall with enough force to send him through a fence, with Hamilton falling on top of him. In an attempt to intervene and separate the two, the female witness grabbed a baseball bat and struck Hamilton. Shortly after her intervention, a single gunshot was heard.
When Everett Police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Teall standing in the road next to Hamilton, who had sustained a gunshot wound to his chest. Despite any potential life-saving measures, Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene. The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Randy Teall in connection with the shooting.
Following his arrest, Teall was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of second-degree murder. A judge set his bail at $200,000. The precise nature of the relationship between Hamilton and Teall was not made clear in initial police reports, leaving some questions about the motive behind the deadly confrontation.
