On the afternoon of May 28, 2024, the life of Daniel Simpson, a White / Caucasian male, was abruptly ended in Omak, Washington. A 911 call reported a shooting on North Kirkpatrick Road, where Simpson had been shot in the back. The suspect, a 17-year-old male, fled the residence immediately after the incident.
Law enforcement from multiple agencies, including the Okanogan County Sheriff's Office, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Washington State Patrol, and the Omak Police
Department, quickly converged on the area. They established a perimeter and utilized a drone to aid in the search for the suspect. Despite the efforts of Life Line Ambulance Medics to perform life-saving measures, Daniel Simpson was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The swift and coordinated response of the law enforcement agencies led to the apprehension of the juvenile suspect approximately 30 minutes after the initial call. He was located less than a mile from the scene of the crime and was taken into custody. The suspect was subsequently booked into the Okanogan County Juvenile Detention Center. Due to his status as a minor, his name has not been publicly released.
