In the quiet town of Omak, Washington, a tragedy unfolded on the evening of January 23, 2018, forever altering the lives of those connected to Seth Jared Harris, a 32-year-old Caucasian male from the neighboring community of Okanogan. Harris was discovered shot and killed inside his vehicle near the intersection of Riverside Drive and Locust Street, a grim end to what began as a deceptive plea for help.
The investigation into his death revealed a sinister plot.
Authorities believe that Harris was lured to his death by Nancy Best-Campbell, a 37-year-old woman from Omak. It is alleged that she contacted Harris under the guise of needing a ride, a friendly request that masked a violent plan. Unbeknownst to Harris, Best-Campbell had allegedly conspired with 31-year-old Robert DeCastro to rob him.
When Harris arrived at the predetermined location, the situation turned deadly. DeCastro allegedly shot Harris, and both he and Best-Campbell then fled the scene, leaving Harris to succumb to his injuries alone in his car. The ensuing investigation moved swiftly, leading to the arrest of Robert DeCastro just three days later, on January 26, 2018. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder.
The search for the second suspect continued for several weeks. On February 14, 2018, U.S. Marshals apprehended Nancy Best-Campbell in a remote area of Ferry County. She was charged with first-degree murder and first-degree burglary. Investigators pieced together the events of that fateful night, concluding that the call for a ride was a premeditated act to facilitate a robbery that tragically escalated into murder. Both suspects were booked into the Okanogan County Jail as they awaited the legal proceedings that would determine their fate.
