Amir Abdillahi Osman, a 30-year-old man from Seattle, was fatally shot on June 24, 2024, in the University District neighborhood of Seattle. The shooting occurred around 9:45 PM near the intersection of NE 42nd Street and Pasadena Place NE. Osman died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Court documents filed in November 2024 disclosed that the Department of Homeland Security had been investigating Osman and his associate, Michael Jansich, for distributing drugs in the University District.
Osman was reportedly one of the leaders of a Washington-based arm of a drug trafficking organization. The group was allegedly importing large quantities of fentanyl pills into the Seattle area. Federal authorities had obtained a wiretap on Osman's Snapchat account in May 2024, which revealed communications about drug sales and illegal firearms modifications.
While Osman's murder remains under investigation by Seattle police, federal authorities have made progress in dismantling the drug trafficking organization he was allegedly part of. In a coordinated operation in early November 2024, Homeland Security Investigations and other law enforcement agencies arrested eleven people connected to the organization, including Michael Jansich.
During a raid on Jansich's Mercer Island home, investigators discovered a large safe containing various drugs, including cocaine, ketamine, MDMA, and LSD, as well as 20 firearms and a significant amount of cash. Jansich was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
The U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Washington, Tessa Gorman, described the group as 'prolific fentanyl dealers' who posed a significant danger to the community. She also noted the connection between the drug trafficking operation and violent crime in Seattle.
As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made specifically for Osman's murder, and the investigation into his death continues. The case has shed light on the complex interplay between drug trafficking operations and violent crime in Seattle, with authorities working to address both issues simultaneously.
