In the early morning hours of November 3, 2024, a tragic shooting in the Puyallup area claimed the life of 23-year-old Daetron Franco of Tacoma. The Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed that Franco, a male, died from a gunshot wound to the torso, and his death has been ruled a homicide.
The incident unfolded shortly before 1 a.m.
near the 6600 block of 152nd Street East, where deputies from the Pierce County Sheriff's Department were initially called to the scene of a car crash. They discovered a man inside a vehicle that had gone into a ditch, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Shortly thereafter, three other young adults, including Franco, arrived at the hospital with gunshot wounds. Despite medical efforts, Franco succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators believe the shooting was connected to a party that had taken place nearby on 58th Avenue East. While the shooting did not occur at the party itself, detectives suspect that both the victim and the shooter were associated with the event. A second potential shooting scene was identified at the intersection of 58th Avenue East and 152nd Street.
As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and the Pierce County Sheriff's Department has not released any description of a suspect or suspects. Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances that led to the violence and have reached out to the public for assistance. They have asked residents in the vicinity of the potential shooting scenes to review their security camera footage for any suspicious vehicles or activity between midnight and 12:50 a.m. on the night of the incident and to upload any relevant information to the department's evidence submission portal.
