On February 22, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in south Columbus, Ohio, resulting in the deaths of 57-year-old Marion Sluder and her husband, 55-year-old Edward Sluder. The Columbus Police Department responded to a call reporting a shooting in the 3000 block of Parsons Avenue shortly after 9:40 p.m. that evening.
According to police reports, family members had received a distressing call from Edward Sluder, in which he claimed to have killed his wife, Marion, and expressed his
intention to take his own life. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered both Marion and Edward Sluder deceased inside their home.
The incident is being investigated as a murder-suicide. Edward Sluder is believed to be the perpetrator, having allegedly shot his wife before turning the weapon on himself. No other suspects were mentioned in connection with this case, and no arrests were made due to the nature of the incident.
This tragic event occurred on the same night as another unrelated homicide on the northeast side of Columbus, highlighting a concerning night of violence in the city.
