On the evening of September 13, 1981, Janice Beidleman and her 18-month-old son, Brandon, were visiting relatives in the Myrtle Avenue and Marcia Drive area of Columbus, Ohio. Janice had told her family that she intended to stop by a grocery store on the way home to her residence on Beechwold Drive. She was last seen driving away from her relative's house in her 1974 Chevrolet Vega, with her young son seated in the back.
Tragically, both Janice and Brandon were found dead the following day, on September 14, 1981. Their bodies were discovered in Alum Creek, close to where Janice's vehicle had been found abandoned beneath the Agler Road Bridge, just west of Sunbury Road. Janice had been brutally beaten and strangled, while Brandon appeared to have been suffocated. The Columbus Police Department classified these deaths as homicides, and they have remained unsolved for decades, leaving the family and community without justice or closure.
The case has since been included in Ohio’s list of unsolved homicides, and law enforcement agencies continue to seek assistance from the public.
