On August 26, 2023, at approximately 2:23 p.m., 19-year-old Nathaniel Akua-Kyree Joe-Summerall was fatally shot near a Dairy Queen located in the 1500 block of Schrock Road in Columbus, Ohio. Officers arrived to find Joe-Summerall suffering from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:32 p.m. A second individual, later identified as 19-year-old Kiyaire Blow, arrived at Riverside Methodist Hospital with gunshot injuries sustained during the same incident.
