On September 4, 2023, Trea Carter III, aged 31, was tragically killed in a shooting incident in Maple Heights, Ohio. He was attending a family picnic at Stafford Park with his pregnant wife, Mercedes Iverson-Carter, who was 30 years old at the time. The couple had been married for less than a year and were expecting their first child, a daughter named Ava. The event turned deadly when Jason Iverson, Trea's brother-in-law and Mercedes' brother, allegedly confronted them during the picnic.
