On September 4, 2023, Mercedes Tiana Iverson-Carter, aged 30, was tragically shot and killed during a family picnic in Stafford Park, Maple Heights, Ohio. She was pregnant at the time of her death, expecting a daughter named Ava. Mercedes and her husband, Trea "Norbert" Carter, who was 31 years old, were attending the picnic when the incident occurred. The couple had been married for less than a year and were preparing to celebrate their first wedding anniversary in October.
