Brandon Morris, a 42-year-old Black man from Cleveland, Ohio, lost his life to gun violence on Saturday, September 16, 2023. He was discovered shot on a street in the 4100 block of E. 108th Street on the city’s East side. Emergency responders transported Mr. Morris to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Cleveland police began an investigation into the homicide.
Later that same day, authorities made an arrest, taking 27-year-old Delvonta Green of Fairborn into custody. Mr. Green was charged with aggravated murder in connection with the shooting and was transported to the Cuyahoga County Justice Center. He posted bond several days later.
The case was presented to a Cuyahoga County grand jury for review. On December 22, 2023, the grand jury released its decision not to indict Mr. Green on any of the charges. Following the grand jury's finding, the court dismissed the case against him.
The dismissal was issued "without prejudice," which leaves open the possibility that charges could be refiled at a later date. As of December 2023, with the charges against the only publicly identified suspect dismissed, the murder of Brandon Morris remains unsolved.
