On January 5, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., 17-year-old Te'Vion Rondale Cunningham was found unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds near Seabrooke Avenue and East 222nd Street in Euclid, Ohio. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Cunningham was a student at Ginn Academy and a member of Glenville High School's football and basketball teams. He had recently contributed to the Tarblooders' back-to-back state football championships.
His family described him as an "excellent young man" with an "incredible sense of humor and an infectious smile."
Investigations revealed that Cunningham was attempting to purchase a firearm when he was shot. On January 15, 2024, authorities arrested 22-year-old Meon'te Robinson of Cleveland, charging him with aggravated murder. He is being held on a $1 million bond. Subsequently, on February 23, 2024, 19-year-old Deshawn Wright was apprehended in Cleveland in connection with the case and also charged with aggravated murder.
The tragic loss of Cunningham has deeply affected the community, prompting calls for increased efforts to address gun violence among youth. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death and urge anyone with additional information to contact the Euclid Police Department.
