On February 16, 2024, 19-year-old Danielle Marie Lovins was found with a gunshot wound to the head at her boyfriend's residence on Peregrine Way in Hamilton, Ohio. She was transported to Kettering Medical Center in Dayton, where she was pronounced dead at 5:18 p.m.
The Hamilton Police Department initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. A male individual present at the scene made the initial 911 call.
Danielle's five-month-old son was also in the residence at the time of the incident.
The Montgomery County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy but was unable to determine the manner of death, listing it as "undetermined." In September 2024, the case was presented to a grand jury, which returned no indictment, citing insufficient evidence to pursue charges.
Danielle's family expressed dissatisfaction with the investigation's outcome, seeking further inquiry into the events leading to her death. Her father, Dan Lovins, emphasized his commitment to pursuing justice for his daughter.
Born on August 11, 2004, Danielle was a loving mother and devoted daughter. She is survived by her father, Daniel W. Lovins, and her cherished son. She was preceded in death by her mother, Emily M. Phelps.
