Nicole Arlene Pleasant, affectionately known as "Nikki," tragically lost her life on May 11, 2024, at the age of 45 in Columbus, Ohio. The incident occurred during a domestic violence situation at a residence in the 1000 block of Lockwood Drive.
According to reports, Columbus police responded to a call about gunshots in the vicinity of McAllister Avenue, near Shady Lane Road, just one block south of East Main Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Nicole Pleasant's body at the scene. She had been shot multiple times before the police arrived.
The suspect in Nicole's death was identified as Corey Roach, a 50-year-old man. When police approached the area, they were directed towards Roach by a neighbor. As officers neared, Roach opened fire on them, leading to a shootout. The two officers involved returned fire, resulting in Roach being shot. He was subsequently found lying on a sidewalk and transported to Mount Carmel East hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:50 p.m. on the same day.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is conducting an investigation into the fatal shooting of Roach by law enforcement, as is standard protocol for any police-involved shooting within Columbus city limits. Simultaneously, Columbus police homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding Nicole Pleasant's death.
