Ronald Steele, a 33-year-old resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, tragically lost his life on June 26, 2024, in a shooting incident in the Mount Airy neighborhood. The incident occurred around 4:00 PM in the 4900 block of Hawaiian Terrace. Cincinnati Police Department officers responded to reports of a person shot and found Steele with multiple gunshot wounds.
Steele was immediately transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
The shooting also resulted in a second victim who suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. This individual self-transported to Mercy West Hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
In connection with this incident, law enforcement quickly made an arrest. Jonah Hundley, a 23-year-old suspect, was apprehended and charged with Steele's murder. Hundley also faces an additional charge of felonious assault for the injury to the second victim.
During his court appearance on Thursday, June 27, Hundley claimed that the shooting was an act of self-defense. He stated that he was "aggressively approached by two men and defended himself." Despite this claim, the court set Hundley's bond at $1 million. He is scheduled to appear before a grand jury on July 8.
