On August 3, 2024, at approximately 11:29 PM, Columbus police officers responded to a shooting in the 800 block of Murray Avenue, near East 5th Avenue, in Columbus, Ohio. Upon arrival, they found 36-year-old Dajuan Rios suffering from a gunshot wound in the front yard of a residence.

Rios was immediately transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition. Despite receiving life-saving care, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 3:21 AM on August 4, 2024.
