On New Year's Day in 2023, a shooting in Clovis, New Mexico, resulted in the death of 28-year-old Hispanic male, Oscar Trujillo. The incident marked the city's first homicide of the year. Trujillo was seriously injured in the altercation and later succumbed to his injuries.
