On May 15, 2023, 97-year-old Gwendolyn Schofield and her 73-year-old daughter, Melody Ivie, were fatally shot while driving through a neighborhood in Farmington, New Mexico. The assailant, 18-year-old Beau Wilson, a student at Farmington High School, indiscriminately fired at vehicles and homes, resulting in the deaths of Schofield, Ivie, and 79-year-old Shirley Voita.
