On August 13, 2023, at approximately 5:45 a.m., Albuquerque police officers responded to a shooting in the 2700 block of Paseo Del Canto Dr. SW. Upon arrival, they discovered that five-year-old Galilea Samaniego had been shot in the head while sleeping in a bedroom with her two sisters. She was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
