The circumstances of his death were immediately deemed suspicious by the Nye County Sheriff's Office, as the interior of the home was reportedly covered in blood, indicating a brutal
struggle had taken place. An investigation quickly determined that Riske’s life was taken by multiple gunshot wounds just after noon.
