On December 6, 2023, the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, became the scene of a tragedy that claimed the life of 39-year-old Patricia Navarro Velez. An assistant professor of accounting, she was in Beam Hall when a gunman opened fire, her life cut short by multiple gunshot wounds.
