On December 6, 2023, Patricia Navarro Velez, a 39-year-old assistant professor of accounting at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), tragically lost her life in a campus shooting. The incident occurred in Beam Hall, where Navarro Velez had an office on the fourth floor. The Clark County coroner's office confirmed that she died from multiple gunshot wounds.
