On the afternoon of January 10, 2024, a call brought Reno Police to the 100 block of East 7th Street. At around 3:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a possible deceased person inside a vehicle. There, they discovered the body of Felix Harry, a 33-year-old White man from Reno. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner's Office later formally identified Harry and ruled his death a homicide.
An autopsy determined that he had died from a gunshot wound to the head. As the Reno Police Department began its investigation, it assured the community that it did not believe there was any ongoing threat to the public related to the incident.
The investigation moved swiftly. The day after Felix Harry was found, authorities made an arrest in connection with his death. On January 11, 2024, police took John Benson, also a resident of Reno, into custody. Benson was subsequently charged with open murder with a deadly weapon.
While an arrest has been made, authorities have stated that the investigation remains active. Secret Witness has offered a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and successful prosecution of the suspect or suspects involved.
