On September 15, 2024, 53-year-old Laura Aceves-Ramirez of Carson City, Nevada, was found deceased near the Glenbrook historic marker on Highway 50. Authorities discovered her and 57-year-old Soloman Hernandez of Zephyr Cove inside a GMC pickup truck, both with apparent gunshot wounds. Investigations by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office suggest that Hernandez fatally shot Aceves-Ramirez before taking his own life.
