On September 15, 2024, 53-year-old Laura Aceves-Ramirez of Carson City, Nevada, was found deceased near the Glenbrook historic marker on Highway 50. Authorities discovered her and 57-year-old Soloman Hernandez of Zephyr Cove inside a GMC pickup truck, both with apparent gunshot wounds. Investigations by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office suggest that Hernandez fatally shot Aceves-Ramirez before taking his own life.
Aceves-Ramirez was a devoted mother, sister, and friend, celebrated for
her kindness and unwavering love for her family. Her laughter, strength, and compassion left a lasting impact on those who knew her. Actively involved in her community, she was passionate about helping others, and her generous spirit will be remembered by many.
She is survived by her children, siblings, and extended family, all deeply mourning her untimely passing. The family has requested privacy during this difficult time.
