Mark Bradley, a 40-year-old male from St. Paul, Minnesota, was fatally shot in north Minneapolis on January 25, 2023. The incident occurred just after noon near the intersection of 22nd Avenue and Emerson Avenue North. Minneapolis police responded to a ShotSpotter report and arrived at the scene to find Bradley suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to render aid, he was pronounced dead at the location.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed his identity and ruled his death a homicide.
Authorities launched an investigation into the shooting, and surveillance footage from a nearby church and a Metro Transit bus provided crucial evidence. The footage captured 37-year-old William Johnson, known by witnesses as 'Coleone,' pulling a firearm and opening fire on Bradley at close range as he exited an apartment building. Johnson and another individual had been entering the building when Bradley was leaving. The attack occurred in broad daylight, adding to concerns about violent crime in the area.
Johnson was subsequently charged with second-degree murder in connection with Bradley's death. At the time of his arrest, he was already being held in Hennepin County Jail on unrelated charges.
