On June 3, 2009, the dismembered remains of 21-year-old Osben Laparra were discovered floating in multiple bags in Biscayne Bay, Miami. A cyclist spotted the first suspicious bag near Pelican Harbor, prompting a police response. Later that same day, divers located additional bags containing more body parts about a quarter mile away. The brutal nature of the crime, involving dismemberment and disposal in separate locations, shocked the community and has left many questions unanswered.
