A 24-year-old White man, Douglas Simpson III, was found deceased on April 21, 2023, in Manhattan, Kansas. A dedicated Staff Sergeant in the United States Army stationed at Fort Riley, his death has been described as resulting from "death by force" and connected to gun violence.
