On September 10, 2023, at approximately 2 a.m., Wichita police responded to a reported shooting in the 4000 block of West Memory Lane. Upon arrival, officers found 19-year-old Zylez James unconscious with gunshot wounds to his upper and lower body. Despite immediate life-saving efforts and transportation to a local hospital, James was pronounced dead.
