In a tragic turn of events on January 28, 2024, 14-year-old Claude Hodges Jr., a Black male, was found deceased in a west Wichita, Kansas, apartment. The discovery was made after a tense, hours-long standoff between law enforcement and his mother, 43-year-old Kylee Renee Hodges. The incident began when Claude's father contacted police to request a welfare check after his son failed to show up for a scheduled custody exchange and was not answering his phone.
