On January 6, 2023, 38-year-old Eric Lamont Ricks, affectionately known as "Bird," was tragically killed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, due to a senseless act of gun violence. His nephew, Keon Preston, organized a fundraiser to cover funeral expenses, as Eric's prior health issues had made obtaining life insurance difficult. Keon described his uncle as the life of the party, a kind-hearted, down-to-earth individual who was family-oriented and full of life.
