Hilbert Walker III, a 23-year-old waiter, was fatally shot on April 28, 2023, at Mandina's Restaurant in the Mid-City section of New Orleans. The incident occurred during a shooting that also left a 54-year-old woman, a customer celebrating the birthday of WXRT radio legend Terri Hemmert, wounded. The woman was hit by a bullet that went through the restaurant wall, and Hemmert herself narrowly avoided being hit, with a bullet striking the wall just two inches from her head.
