In the summer of 2023, the life of 36-year-old James Morgan was cut short in an act of violence that stemmed from what authorities have described as an ongoing domestic incident. On the evening of July 27th, in the Allendale neighborhood of Shreveport, Louisiana, a fatal shooting occurred that would lead to a swift arrest.
Shreveport Police were called to a business on Alston Street just before 10 p.m. following reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, they discovered that James Morgan had sustained a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The incident was quickly identified by investigators as being connected to a domestic dispute.
In a surprising turn of events, the alleged shooter turned himself in to the authorities. Thirty-four-year-old Jeffrey Smith was taken into custody and subsequently charged with second-degree homicide in connection with Morgan's death.
