Donna Renee Vance, a 50-year-old female, had a life marked by a free-spirited and nomadic nature. Born in Augusta, Georgia, she moved with her family to Ridgecrest, Louisiana, as a young child. Described as having a 'gypsy soul,' she spent much of her life moving from one place to another before eventually settling in the serene Little River area of Catahoula Parish, seeking peace and relaxation.
She found joy in crafting, gardening, reading, and music, and was deeply devoted to her family and her beloved animals, whom she considered her children.
Her life was tragically cut short on August 3, 2023, in what authorities have described as a suspected domestic homicide. The circumstances surrounding her death led to an investigation by the Catahoula Parish Sheriff's Office. This investigation culminated in the arrest of 50-year-old Ronald Gene Baxter Jr. of Jonesville, Louisiana, on December 6, 2024.
Baxter has since been charged with second-degree murder in connection with Donna Renee Vance's death. Following the arrest, the Sheriff's Office assured the community that the scene was secure and there was no further threat to public safety. The case is being investigated as a domestic homicide. At the time of the announcement, no bond had been set for Baxter. Funeral services for Donna Renee Vance were held on August 12, 2023, at Crossbridge Church in Ferriday, Louisiana.
