In the early morning hours of Saturday, January 13, 2024, the Broussard Police Department responded to a call on Leisure Field Drive. There, they discovered the body of 18-year-old Paul Bernard Jr., a male resident of Maurice and native of Lafayette. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Known affectionately as 'Lil Paul,' he was described as a vibrant and respectful young man with a heart of gold. He was a father to a daughter named Nova.
