In the late hours of a Thursday night in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the life of Reginald Millican, a 46-year-old man, was brought to a violent and abrupt end. On March 14, 2024, at approximately 11:13 p.m., officers from the Baton Rouge Police Department were dispatched to the 5400 block of Byron Street, near the intersection of Plank Road and Evangeline Street, following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr.
Millican lying in the street, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation into the fatal shooting was immediately taken over by detectives from the Homicide Division. At the time of the initial reports, law enforcement had not yet determined a motive for the shooting, nor had they identified any suspects. The case was noted as the 24th homicide in Baton Rouge for the year 2024, a significant increase compared to the 12 homicides recorded by the same time in the previous year.
