Isaac Baggett was a 16-year-old Black male from Bogalusa, Louisiana, and a student at Bogalusa High School. His life was cut short by gunfire in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 13, 2024.
The incident unfolded around 2 a.m. in the 500 block of Union Avenue. A residence occupied by an unrelated family was struck by a barrage of bullets from multiple firearms of various calibers.
Outside the home, Isaac was found deceased from a gunshot wound to the head.
The Bogalusa Police Department launched an investigation and recovered three guns believed to have been used in the attack. Authorities suggested the shooting may have been an act of retaliation against Isaac or his family. Within days, police arrested three juvenile suspects in connection with the homicide: two 15-year-olds and a 14-year-old.
The three youths were booked into the Florida Parish Juvenile Detention Center on initial charges that included first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile. The following month, in May 2024, a Washington Parish grand jury indicted two of the suspects, 15-year-olds Frank Parker and Jyhren Cotton. According to the District Attorney, Parker and Cotton will be tried as adults on charges of second-degree murder and six counts of attempted second-degree murder. The legal status of the 14-year-old suspect was unknown as of that time.
