Hector Velasquez Vargas, a 55-year-old Hispanic male, was found dead on April 26, 2024, in a canal near Kaplan, Louisiana. Vargas, who was homeless and last known to be living in the Lafayette area, was discovered floating in the water by a local farmer. Authorities later confirmed that he had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, which ultimately led to his death.
