In the late hours of a Saturday in Darrow, Louisiana, a domestic dispute escalated into a tragedy that claimed the life of 45-year-old Mark Perkins. On June 15, 2024, Ascension Parish Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a residence on Highway 75 around 11:00 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Perkins suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but the severity of his injuries proved to be fatal.
The investigation into the shooting swiftly led to the arrest of 52-year-old Kendra Washington, who was in a relationship with Perkins. Initially, Washington denied any involvement in the fatal shooting. However, as detectives from the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office delved deeper into the circumstances surrounding the incident, she later confessed to her role in the tragic event.
According to her confession, an argument between her and Perkins had turned physical. It was at this point that Washington stated she shot him with a handgun. Based on her admission and the evidence gathered at the scene, Kendra Washington was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. She is facing charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of weapons in connection with the death of Mark Perkins.
