In the late summer of 2025, the community of Darrow, Louisiana, was shaken by the violent death of 18-year-old TyJon Marquis Comery. On August 28th, deputies from the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a residence on Brown Extension Road following reports of gunfire. Inside the home, they discovered Comery, who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The scene was processed for evidence, with investigators finding multiple shell casings, indicating a shooting had indeed taken place.
The investigation into the young man's death quickly focused on a person of interest, and it was soon revealed that the primary suspect was a close acquaintance of the victim. This individual was identified as 17-year-old Peyton Jackson, also of Darrow. The nature of the relationship between Jackson and Comery added a layer of tragedy to the incident, suggesting a personal conflict that escalated to a fatal confrontation. The motive for the shooting was not immediately released to the public as detectives continued to piece together the events that led to the homicide.
Within weeks of the discovery of Comery's body, the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office made an arrest in the case. Further investigation led to a second arrest on September 23rd. Charles Ray Jackson Jr., the 31-year-old brother of Peyton Jackson, was apprehended by deputies. He was charged with one count of accessory after the fact to second-degree murder, with law enforcement alleging that he had aided his younger brother in the aftermath of the shooting. The arrests of both brothers brought a sense of resolution to the initial phase of the investigation, though the legal process was just beginning.
