On June 19, 2024, a double homicide occurred in the 2000 block of Simmons Street in Alexandria, Louisiana. Among the victims was 55-year-old Ronald Landry, a resident of Boyce, Louisiana.

The incident led to an immediate investigation by the Alexandria Police Department. As a result of their efforts, on June 20, 2024, 46-year-old Rentis Austin of Alexandria, Louisiana, was arrested and charged in connection with the double homicide.
