In the late afternoon of August 28, 2024, a dispute between two half-brothers in Pineville, Louisiana, took a fatal turn. Twenty-year-old Jacquez Burks, a Black male, was shot during the altercation. First responders were called to the 200 block of Lee Street around 2:30 PM where they discovered Burks suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a local hospital for treatment, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
